BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

complexion-rescueWhen I heard about bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($29), I was all over it. The new formula is like a BB cream, CC cream, and tinted moisturizer all rolled into one tube. BareMinerals says that after just one week of use, skin’s hydration increases up to 215%.

The formula is made with water surrounding pigments and humectants — the opposite of a traditional tinted moisturizer, in which water is surrounded by oils and pigments. The water hits your skin first, hydrating and making blending even easier, and humectants draw moisture into your skin as you wear it. This gel cream is all about moisturizing your skin.

complexion-rescue2I’ve been wearing Complexion Rescue for about a week, and I love it. Although it’s a cream, it feels like a liquid when it hits your skin; it feels great. I can’t tell you how light and cushiony this feels when you’re putting it on, and it almost has a cooling effect. The coverage is sheer and radiant; I don’t look like I’m wearing a shimmer product, but my skin glows. I can’t say that my complexion is more hydrated because it pretty much looks the same when I’m not wearing this.

More details after the jump.

complexion-rescue-swatchI matched the Vanilla 02 shade, which is a fair neutral tone. (I thought the tone of Opal 01, the lightest shade, would have been a nice match for my cool skin tone, but the shade was just too light; it made me look ghostly.)complexion-rescue-swatch2

To give you my totally honest thoughts on this product, I have to admit something {slightly} embarrassing: I hated the BareSkin Brightening Serum a few weeks after I reviewed it. The finish was just too matte for me, and I missed the radiance that my trusty old tinted moisturizer gave me. Plus, it was such a process to apply it; not at all quick. I already like this much more than the BareSkin.

complexion-rescue-brushBottom line: If you don’t like a sheer, dewy finish, you won’t like this product. It’s also not ideal for those with super oily skin. But if you have dry skin and are looking for a product that’s hydrating, provides several benefits, and is sheer, you will most likely love this new product from bareMinerals.

One more note: I bought the Smoothing Face Brush ($28) that’s made for this foundation, but I didn’t buy it when I purchased the cream. I had the Perfecting Face Brush from the BareSkin foundation that wasn’t getting any use, so I tried using that, but it didn’t really do this product justice, as it’s made for a liquid formula. I just loved the way the Smoothing Face Brush applied Complexion Rescue, so I grabbed it. You could also use your fingertips or any foundation brush you have; you definitely don’t need to purchase the brush to get a nice application with this.

Have you tried this new product? If so, what do you think?
