It Cosmetics has launched a collection of brushes exclusively at Ulta, and they are over-the-top fantastic. There are three lines of brushes in the collection: Airbrush, Live Beauty Fully (which supports a charitable cause: for each brush purchased, one is donated to Look Good, Feel Better, an organization that provides beauty-related support to women battling cancer), and the Velvet Luxe Blurring Collection. Today I’m reviewing two brushes from the Velvet Luxe Blurring collection. Stay tuned next week for a review of some brushes in the Airbrush collection. The Velvet Luxe Blurring collection is the most opulent line of brushes in the collection. The fanciness of these brushes shows in the little details: the soft-touch handles are ergonomic, and a small crystal is placed at the tip of each handle. The bristles on these brushes are so soft and dense; they feel so good against my skin. I love displaying these brushes because they’re like little works of art. And they apply product gorgeously. Each of these brushes comes in a velvet pouch that protects it during travel. All of the brushes for Ulta are made with synthetic hairs (great for those wanting cruelty-free tools), and perform beautifully with cream, powder, and liquid products.
The LBD Bronzer Brush #319 ($40) is what has been missing from my toolkit; this bronzer brush has bristles that are densely-packed and extra fluffy for streak-free bronzer application. It features a shorter, fatter handle for better control. For a lighter touch, I hold the brush at the tip and sweep bronzer on my face. For a heavier application, I hold it closer to the ferrule and swirl the bronzer on in circles. You can use this with both powder and cream bronzers, and they will apply flawlessly.
LBD Powder Brush #307 ($48) is the most luxurious powder brush I’ve ever owned (and I have a pretty solid brush collection!). The extra-large, fluffy head is designed to pick up and apply just the right amount of powder each time you use it. I’ve been using it with Bye Bye Pores powder ($24), and it dusts on a beautifully light veil of powder that sets makeup for hours. The long, skinny handle allows you to adjust your coverage, and it’s weighted so nicely; it feels study in the hand, like it’s well-made, but not heavy. Although you can use all of these brushes with both cream and powder products, I recommend sticking strictly to powder with this one. The brush is optimized to apply powder perfectly, and bringing creams into the mix isn’t going to give you the same results.
The brushes are available now exclusively at Ulta. Have you tried any of the It brushes? I’d love to hear what you think of them!
