Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara

korres-volcanic-mascaraTalk about being taken by surprise. I never would have tried Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara ($20), simply because I didn’t know it existed. I hadn’t heard any buzz about it, but everybody should be talking about it! I got this mascara as a Beauty Insider bonus with a recent purchase at Sephora. It may have been the best use of 100 points in my very long shopping history at the store.

This little mascara absolutely blew me away. I tried it without even thinking twice about it, and certainly not expecting much. The end result was phenomenal: thick, lush lashes that fanned out in a beautiful fringe. Korres says this mascara increases the appearance of lash volume by 600%. I can’t testify to that, but it they certainly looked thicker than I’ve seen them in a long time. They were long and inky-black in an Italian-screen-siren-from-the-1960s sort of way. Put simply, my lashes were just so pretty.

The formula is infused with minerals from volcanic soil (sounds weird, but it works) to make lashes look ultrablack and voluminous. When wearing this, my lashes were not brittle or crunchy; they were soft and flexible. And the formula wore all day (about 16 hours) without flaking, smudging, or running.

Part of what makes this mascara so great is the brush. The wand is densely-packed with cross-hatched bristles that catch each lash and coat it in mascara. Because the bristles are so close together, they also deposit clump-free color. The tip is tapered so you can get into the inner corners of eyes and reach those baby-fine lashes.

Have you tried this mascara? Were you as impressed as I was?
