We all know the horror stories about what actually goes into lipstick…but somehow, we usually convince ourselves to ignore the truth. When I started thinking about how we eat most of the lipstick/gloss we apply, I got kind of grossed out. So in my purge of
all most things unhealthy at the start of the new year, I decided to try to lay off the synthetic lipsticks and glosses in my life. I was looking for a natural lip gloss, one that was mostly organic and packed with as many natural ingredients as possible. In my search, I came across Coleur Caramel lip gloss ($23).
In addition to being a sustainably-operated company, Coleur Caramel products contain less than 1% of synthetic ingredients. The company uses plant-based active ingredients in their cosmetics, from plants that are grown responsibly without chemicals. They are the first cosmetics brand given the ECOCERT label (that BIO circle you see on the cap in the photo below).
I picked up Glam Kiss, a pearly pale pink shade loaded with shimmer. I like that it slicks on sheer and doesn’t pack a lot of color; since I tend to do dark eyes and pale lips, it works well for me. The texture feels thick, but not sticky; I find it soothing for my chapped lips this time of year, but it would be just as comfy during the summer months. If you’re searching for something a bit more natural to put on your lips & in your body, this might be a good choice.
