Hollywood’s biggest night brings all the brightest stars to the red carpet, and last night’s 86th Academy Awards was no exception. I could care less about the actual awards, but I love seeing the stars arrive in gorgeous gowns. Here are some of the best, worst, and more from last night’s Oscars.
Cate Blanchett: My favorite. This nude Armani gown was was sheer perfection, with all its shimmering textural details. The illusion neckline just put it over the top for me. I adored this on her. (Image via NY Daily News)
Kate Hudson: I’m calling the Oscars “The Night of the K/Cates” because these two stole the show, in my opinion. Kate H. looked absolutely flawless in a stunning Atelier Versace gown with a dramatic draped back and a deep plunging v-neck. Her hair and makeup were just perfect, too. Lupita Nyong’o: This sheer, frothy Prada ballgown, in “Nairobi blue,” as she called it, was stunning on her. People are comparing it to Cinderella’s dress, but I think she puts the Disney princess to shame. This woman kills it in every. single. thing. she wears. Her style is impeccable, and I am so looking forward to seeing what she wears to future award shows. (Image: Getty)
Angelina Jolie: I can’t get over the metallic beading on this Elie Saab gown, and how gorgeous it made the neckline. And in true Angelina style, it was a little bit risque without showing too much. (Image: Jason Merritt/Getty)
Camilla Alvez: I love this blush color on her. I wouldn’t ever think to put her in this shade, because it should clash with her skin tone, but it looks incredible. I love the asymmetry of the Gabriela Cadena gown, too; the drapey side is to die for. (Image: Kevin Mazur/Getty)

Amy Adams: Boring. I always thought you couldn’t go wrong in classic navy, but I was mistaken. Couldn’t she dig up something more exciting? Or at least experiment with her hair and/or makeup? There is nothing wrong with this Gucci gown, but she had some tough competition on the red carpet, and the other ladies drowned her out. (Image: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP)
Julia Roberts: Take the peplum off this dress, and it’s a winner. But with it, it’s just too busy. I give her credit for upgrading basic black with lace, but this Givenchy gown takes it a step too far with the frilly waist addition. (Image: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP)
Sandra Bullock: I almost put her on my best-dressed list, but I can’t get past the fabric of this dress. Everything about it–the cut, fit, style–is perfect, but the shininess of the fabric is throwing me. The shape on her is stunning. (Image: Steve Granitz/Getty)
Naomi Watts: Always playing it safe. I want to see her go big and really experiment with something. It’s time! She looks good in this white Calvin Klein number, but take some risks! (Image: Lester Cohen/WireImage)
