You’ve probably heard of the beautyblender, the iconic reusable pink sponge that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup. Its price point, to me, seems a bit high; $20 for a sponge just doesn’t fit into my budget these days. To spare my wallet major agony, I picked up Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge ($9.99, spray bottle of brush/sponge cleanser included).
I love this reusable applicator. Its curvy design fits perfectly into the palm of your hand for easy, even application. It expertly stipples on tinted moisturizer and foundation. And the opposite end is fabulous for getting into tight spaces, like under the inner corners of the eyes.

There’s just one flaw, and it’s in the product concept itself, not the design of this particular piece: because it’s a sponge, not a brush, it does take a bit more time to apply and blend your foundation. Stippling itself is a bit more time-consuming than brushing it on. If you’re in a rush, you might want to stick with your brush; this is going to add a few minutes to your morning routine. Therefore, I don’t know if it’ll make me up give my beloved Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush, but it’s definitely a nice alternative.
An added bonus: the one I picked up at my local Target included Sonia’s Brush/Sponge Cleanser. A few squirts onto any makeup brush or sponge and a pass under warm running water gets your tools squeaky-clean. I usually forget to wash my brushes as often as I should (once a week), and that’s gross; they harbor so much bacteria that you’re literally reapplying germs on your face with every brush stroke. I’ve made a resolution to keep them clean(er), and this is helping me do it.
