During the VIB sale, Sephora offered a choice of three kits with all online orders over $25. I placed on order to take advantage of the sale (which included 20% off everything for VIB members), and chose the In The Glow Kit as my complementary gift. Here is a quick review of what was included, and my initial thoughts on the products.
Bare Escentuals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener: My favorite product in the kit. Dab this little wonder under your eyes (over concealer) and at the inner corners of the eyes for an instant brightening effect. It really works! I tossed this into my mini makeup bag for those nights when my eyeliner smears under my eyes, or I start getting tired before it’s time to head home. It’s a quick perk-up for undereye discoloration.
L’Occitane Amande Cleansing & Soothing Shower Oil with Almond: This is really a matter of personal preference. The oil left my skin feeling greasy, which I hate. But if you don’t mind that feeling, I’d recommend this because it it does seem to hydrate well, and smells almondy and lovely. If you can’t stand the thought of getting greased up in the shower, add a couple drops to a hot bath; it doesn’t feel nearly as greasy and you still get the hydration.
Stila In The Light Shadow Card: These shadow shades are versatile, with a mix of neutrals and smoky shades, both shimmery and matte. Although the shade selection was nice, the delivery was not. I spent way too much time running my brush over the card to get any shadow on it. Not worth it. But if you’re considering purchasing a new shadow, I’d recommend these. They wore well without creasing and had nice pigmentation.
St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion: Love this. It’s great for giving your skin a tanned boost before parties or big events. When your skin hasn’t seen the sun or self-tanner in months, this is just the thing to get you glowing again. And it washes off easily, and won’t rub off on your clothes.
Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil: Spritz this mist on damp hair to protect it from heat styling damage, condition it, and preserve color. It’s lightweight, doesn’t weigh hair down, and adds just a hint of shine. I didn’t notice a major difference between this and Moroccanoil.
Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara: Just an ok mascara. I tossed it in my mini makeup bag in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups.
Philosophy Take a Deep Breath: I really like this cream-gel hybrid moisturizer. It supposed infuses oxygen into your skin in an effort to erase the damaging environmental effects your skin endures daily. I have no idea if it works long-term, but it felt great (lightweight & non-greasy) on my face.
Also included two fragrance samples (Especially Escada and DKNY Delicious).
The kits are still available at Sephora.com (use code ITKIT at checkout if you’re a Beauty Insider). You can also select the Best in Classic kit (which includes products from NARS, Lancome, Make Up For Ever, Stila, & more) or the Lasting Impression kit (which brands like Tarte, Laura Mercier, Urban Decay, & Clarins).
I snapped the photo above before I separated out my samples from the contents of the kit. That photo includes ALL of the samples I received (I got a few extra with my order due to Beauty Insider points and other promotions). The Fresh Sugar Mini Lip Duo, Too Faced Primed & Poreless primer, Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, and Clinique Even Better Dark Circle Corrector are NOT included in this kit.
