I have always had a round face, and always craved more definition. As a result, I’ve become a contouring pro. But contouring is a pain in the ass. It takes time, you need specific brushes…ugh. Tarte just made it 100x easier with their new The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer in Park Ave Princess ($24) and The Slenderizer Bamboo Contouring Brush ($32).
Forget powder contouring; this cream-based stick is where it’s at. You use the stick to draw the contour lines on your face (under your cheekbones, along your jawline and hairline, and down the sides of your nose). It’s that easy! Just draw on the lines. Then use the dual-ended Slenderizer brush to blend out the product. Use the angled contour brush head to blend along your jaw and hairline, and the domed buffing brush to blend the product on your cheeks. It is SO simple.

I did notice a difference in application between this and go-to contouring product, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark ($32). This was more subtle, and less obvious; if you want heavy contouring, you have to apply a lot more product to get the same effect as a traditional powder or bronzer. But because this is so easy and simple, I’m willing to overlook that minor difference.
The Slenderizer brush is not necessary, but if you don’t have a brush specifically for contouring, I’d recommend this. It effortlessly buffs the dark color into skin, so there are no harsh lines or obvious darkness. The brush is really well-made, and the bristles are soft and do their job beautifully.
Have you tried Tarte’s Sculptor and Slenderizer yet? Are these products you would use on a daily basis? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments.
