The Best Bronzer/Blush Compacts

Lorac Blush/Bronzer DuoHappy October, ladies! The temperatures are already dropping, and all this autumnal weather has got me thinking about minor tweaks I make in my beauty routine when the seasons change.

One thing that I tend to do as soon as we are out of our warm spells (barring any Indian summer incidents that may still occur) is lay off the bronzer a bit. I still use it daily, but I’ve cut down to just a few swipes across the cheeks, down the nose, and across the forehead. I started thinking about how I can pare down my makeup bag to accomodate more fall-friendly products, and I realized that bronzer/blush compacts are a great product to have on hand once fall hits. Combining 2 products into 1 compact helps you lighten your load, lug less around, and take care of brightening your complexion in one fell swoop.

Check out my roundup of the best after the jump.

NARS highlighting duo1. NARS Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo in Laguna/Orgasm ($37)
There is a reason why NARS Orgasm blush is a cult classic: the peachy-pinky hue is universally flattering on all skintones, and sprinkles skin with just a hint of shimmer. It gives a rosy, lit-from-within glow. Pair that with NARS’ awesome golden shimmer Laguna bronzer (a personal favorite of mine), and you’ve got a one-two punch of sunkissed radiance.

duwop bronzerush2. DuWop Bronzerush ($35)
DuWop’s glamorously chic Bronzerush compact is all you need for an elegant flush. The stylishly sleek brushed gold compact houses a smooth powder bronzer that gives you a nice toasty glow without overdoing it. Beside it is a sphere of velvety gel-based blush that you can actually see your skin through, so it looks more natural. Available in 2 shades: June, featuring a vibrant pink blush and a lightly golden bronzer for lighter complexions, and August, with a tawny deep bronze powder and a pop of berry blush for darker complexions.

philosophy the supernatural3. Philosophy The Supernatural Mineral Blush Duo in Sunny/Bright ($25)
Sweep on this sunshiney bronzer to lift your complexion and give you a hint of golden tint; just enough to take the pale edge off your skin. Then get ready for the punchy pink, which will instantly light up your cheeks (the shade looks ultra-bright in the compact, but goes on sheer and subtle). The color turns so pretty on skin; you’ll look instantly refreshed and more awake. Who wouldn’t love that?  If these shades are too bright for you, there are also 3 other more neutral-based compacts that may work for you.

NARS The Multiple Duo4. NARS The Multiple Duo in Orgasm/South Beach ($48)
When I first saw this on display at Sephora a few weeks ago, I nearly skipped over it completely. I happened to dip my fingers over the tester, and the creamy luminizer and bronzer were the silkiest, softest cosmetics I’d felt in a long time. The color wears gorgeously. Since it’s a cream formula, it’s meant to be a radiant accent to the face; don’t use it all over or you’ll end up looking like you had a mishap in a spray-tan booth. All you need are a few dabs of South Beach where the sun would normally hit. Then use the Orgasm cream blush to brighten up cheeks. You’ll look like you just stepped off a flight from the Caribbean.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick for Body5. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick for Body ($75)
Finally, a total splurge, because we all need a little decadence now and then. This was created with your bod, not your face, in mind. To give your shoulders, decollette, and legs a sexy glow, this gorgeous compact is the only thing you need. It’s got pinky undertones, too, so if the mood strikes, you can use it on your face as a combo bronzer/blush.
