The other day, I was rushing out the door (as usual), and applying my makeup on the train. In my harried state, I’d forgotten to toss a tinted moisturizer or BB cream in my makeup bag (and 1/2 of my brushes, but that’s another story). I don’t typically use foundation, but, like most of us, I need something on my skin to make it look brighter and more even-toned.
If you ever find yourself without foundation, tinted moisturizer, or BB cream, mix concealer, moisturizer, and luminizer or highlighter on the back of your hand. The ratio should be around 1 part luminizer to 2 parts each moisturizer and concealer. The resulting liquid-cream will be a decent substitute and get your skin looking even and blemish-free. The coverage won’t be as heavy as foundation, but it’s definitely better than going bare. I find it’s best to press this into the skin with a sponge like this.
FYI: The products pictured here are, from left, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit in Sand, Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturizer SPF 20 (trial size), and NARS Illuminator in Copacabana.
Have you ever concocted beauty solutions on the fly? I’d love to hear them in the comments.
