The Scoop on the Foreo Luna Mini Facial Cleanser

imageI received the FOREO Luna Mini¬†($99) in the 2015 Q4 Rakuten Bonus Box. I’ve been using it for a few months now, and I’m finally familiar enough with it to share my opinions on the product.

The Luna Mini is a compact, paddle-shaped facial cleansing device made of silicone. One side bears a crescent-shaped area of small silicone nubs, with a spot toward the tip of the device that features thicker silicone tips. The thin points are for general cleansing, and are safe for sensitive skin. The thicker nubs are for precision cleaning (areas that are prone to breakouts, occasional blemishes, etc.). The back also features a crescent of thick nubs that are spaced a bit further apart than the ones on the front; these are for cleaning oily skin. When you press the indented button on the front, the device gently emits 8,000 T-Sonic (transdermal sonic) Vibrations per minute that clean skin. The device is constructed of non-porous silicone that resists bacteria buildup, dries quickly, and is easy to clean. Oh, and it comes in five colors.

Cleaning with this is super easy. I apply a layer of cleanser all over my face, then press the button to start the device. It vibrates for one minute total, notifying me throughout with a quick pause when it’s time to move on to the next area. I used a heavy hand with this until I got used to it, and the vibes were a little strong, but once I lightened up my pressure, the device felt more comfortable.

One of the best features about this device is it’s insane battery life. I have been using it daily for about three months, give or take, and I have not charged it once. NOT ONCE. I don’t even understand how this is possible, but I’m not complaining! The Luna Mini comes with a USB cable to charge it, but no adapter. You have to plug it into a computer or a dual-port USB charger in order to boost this battery.

I do like the Luna Mini, but I can’t say it is life-changing for me. Overall, I haven’t noticed much difference in my skin. My complexion has always been pretty even-keeled, despite monthly breakouts and the occasional blemish or dry patch. While this is a nice addition to my skincare routine, it’s not a gamechanger for me. I have been using this exclusively, after being 100% loyal to my Clarisonic for years, and I didn’t notice an improvement or decline in the way my skin looked–it literally stayed exactly the same. For me, the biggest benefits are its simple design, ease of use, and long-lasting battery.

Have you tried any of the Luna cleansers? What did you think?

I used a cheaper version of one of these way way back in the day, before they were even popular. I didn’t really like it, I think all these things are gimmicky! Washing with a good cleanser and your hands is all you need..
